Welcome to Crisp, an AI-powered document utility app that converts PDFs to editable Word documents, extracts text from scans and photos (OCR), converts images to Word, generates visual summaries, and splits or merges PDFs. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and share information when you use our app (“Service”). By using Crisp, you agree to this policy.
1. Information We Collect
- Files You Upload: When you use a conversion feature, the document or image you select is uploaded to our servers to be processed. See Section 4 for how these files are handled and retained.
- No Account Required: Crisp does not require you to create an account or provide your name or email to use the app. A random device identifier is generated to track your daily usage limits.
- Automatically Collected Information: Device type, operating system, app version, app usage, crash data, and IP address.
- Payment Information: Subscriptions are processed securely through the Apple App Store. We do not collect or store your payment card details.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To process your files and deliver conversion results (PDF to Word, OCR, image to Word, summaries).
- To enforce free usage limits and manage subscriptions.
- To analyze app performance and fix bugs using aggregated analytics and crash data.
- To show rewarded ads to non-premium users who choose to watch them for additional conversions.
- To communicate updates or respond to your feedback.
3. AI Processing
Crisp uses Google’s Gemini models, accessed through Google Cloud Vertex AI, to perform text extraction (OCR), document conversion, and visual summarization. The contents of the files you upload are sent to these AI services solely to generate your requested result. Your files are not used to train AI models.
4. File Storage and Retention
- Uploaded files and their generated results are stored temporarily on our cloud servers (Google Cloud Storage) only for the time needed to process and deliver your result.
- These files are automatically deleted shortly after processing and are not retained long-term.
- Files you choose to save are stored locally on your own device, not on our servers.
- Data in transit is protected using encryption.

6. App Tracking Transparency
With your permission (requested through Apple’s App Tracking Transparency prompt), Crisp may access your device’s advertising identifier (IDFA) to support a better ad experience. If you decline, you will still be able to use the app fully, and you will see non-personalized ads. You can change this choice anytime in your device’s Settings.
7. Your Rights and Choices
- Premium subscribers enjoy an ad-free experience with no need to watch ads.
- You can manage or cancel your subscription anytime in your Apple App Store account settings.
- You can request deletion of any data associated with your device identifier by emailing us.
8. Children’s Privacy
Crisp is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If such data is discovered, it will be deleted promptly.
9. International Data Transfers
Your data may be processed on servers located outside your country (for example, in the United States) in compliance with applicable data protection laws.
